The Ceretone Brand Story
In 2009, a brother and sister team set out to help their father after significant hearing loss began disconnecting him from everyday life. Working alongside hearing experts, they developed a solution designed to restore clarity, comfort, and connection. That personal journey sparked a larger mission: to make effective hearing care accessible to all.
Based in Southern California under the Audicon Corporation, Ceretone delivers advanced, patent-protected technology at an approachable price. What began with one father now helps people everywhere reconnect to life's most meaningful moments.

Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers!
1. Connectivity & Controls
Does the Core One Pro have bluetooth, and app, or phone streaming?
No, and that's by design. To make Core One Pro one of the smallest hearing aids possible, we kept it simple: no Bluetooth, no app, no pairing. Everything is controlled right on the device and its charging case. That means nothing to set up and no phone required, just put them in and go.
If Bluetooth streaming and app control matter to you, check out Beacon, our behind-the-ear model with both.
How do I adjust the volume?
Volume is adjusted on the charging case, not on the hearing aids themselves. Place them in the case, press the side button, and the case display shows the level as you change it. Each ear is set to its own level, so you can match the volume to each ear's needs.
There are no tiny buttons to fumble with on the aids, that's the trade-off for a device this small that sits this deep in your ear canal.
How do I switch between the listening programs?
Two ways. With the aids in your ears, tap twice using a flat, whole-hand tap over your ear, not a fingertip tap on the device itself. A light finger tap usually won't register. Or place them in the charging case and press and hold the side button for 3 to 5 seconds.
2. Fit, Size & Comfort
Will they fit my ear canal? Mine are very small.
Core One Pro sits inside the ear canal (an invisible-in-canal design) and comes with soft eartips in multiple sizes, so most people find a comfortable fit, including many with smaller canals. Each aid measures about 1/4 inch across and under 3/4 inch long (7.1 mm by 17.2 mm) and weighs 1.2 grams, with a curved shape that follows the natural curve of the ear canal.
Start with the medium eartip and move up or down until the fit is snug and whistle-free. A tip that's too small is the usual reason an aid works loose or whistles. If the fit feels off, try rotating the aid slightly as you insert it; ear canals curve in different ways, and a small change in angle often makes the difference.
We won't promise a fit we can't guarantee. Ear canals genuinely differ, and we can't see yours. That's exactly why the home trial exists. Give yourself a few days of short wearing sessions before judging; some initial awareness of the device is normal and fades. If it truly doesn't fit, our 100-day return policy has you covered: send it back for a full refund.
If your canals are very small, Beacon is worth a look. It's our behind-the-ear model, so the electronics sit outside the ear and only a slim tip enters the canal.
What ear tips come in the box, how do I change them, and where do I buy more?
Every set ships with a range of ear tip sizes, made from soft, medical-grade silicone that's gentle on skin. Start with medium and change sizes until the seal feels snug.
To change a tip, pull the old one straight off, then push the new one on until it seats fully; you'll feel a small click. If a tip won't seat, our support team will walk you through it or send a replacement.
Replace your tips about once a month, or sooner if they turn stiff, brittle, or discolored. The aids themselves last for years; only the tips are disposable. Replacement sets are available in the Accessories section of our store.
How small are they exactly, and will people see them?
Each aid measures about 1/4 inch across and under 3/4 inch long (7.1 mm by 17.2 mm). It's an invisible-in-canal design that sits inside the ear canal, with an angled tip for a better seat and more natural sound direction.
Nothing sits behind your ear, so glasses, masks, hats, and earrings are all unaffected.
In most ears they're very hard to spot, though how much shows depends on the shape of your canal and the tip size you settle on. And if you don't like how they sit, you have 100 days to return them.
3. Sound, Battery & Care
Are they rechargeable, or do I need to buy batteries?
Fully rechargeable, no batteries to buy, ever. The aids run up to 20 hours on a single charge, and a full charge takes about 2 hours. The case carries its own power, so it recharges them three times over before it needs an outlet: around 80 hours of use away from a plug. The case charges via USB-C.
Everything is rechargeable. There are no tiny batteries to buy or fiddle with, ever. Just charge the aids for at least 2 hours before first use, then drop them in the case whenever you're not wearing them.
Will they cut background noise and make speech clearer?
Yes. Clarity, not just volume, is the whole point, and it's what people tell us they were missing.
Core One Pro has four preset programs for different environments, noise reduction, and wind-noise reduction for outdoors. Switching to the right program for the room does more for understanding speech than turning the volume up, which usually just makes the background louder too.
An honest note: no hearing aid, at any price, makes all background noise disappear. A loud restaurant is the hardest test there is, and it will still take some effort. What the right program does is tilt the balance toward the voice in front of you, and that difference grows over your first few weeks as your brain re-learns how to focus on speech.
Will they whistle or squeal?
Whistling almost always means the aid is not fully seated, or the ear tip is too small. Push the aid in until it sits snugly, and go up one tip size if it continues.
A few other fixes: lower the volume a step, since high volume can trigger feedback, and make sure nothing is blocking the microphone. Some whistling is normal and harmless — cupping a hand near your ear, hugging someone, or holding a phone flat against the ear can all set it off briefly, and it stops as soon as you move away.
Do not wear them under a Bluetooth headset; the two sets of microphones interfere.
Do they need wax guards or filters, and how do I clean them?
No separate wax guards or filters to buy or swap. The soft ear tip is what protects the sound outlet, which is one more reason to replace tips about once a month.
Daily cleaning takes under a minute with the included brush. Store the aids in the charging case overnight, which keeps them clean, dry, and charged in one habit.
If sound ever gets weak or muffled, a waxed-up tip is the most common cause. Give everything a quick brush and swap the tip before assuming anything is wrong with the aid.
What should I expect in the first few weeks?
Honestly? The first days can feel strange, and that's normal. Your own voice may sound odd, ordinary sounds like the fridge hum or your footsteps may seem loud, and voices can have a sharp or tinny edge. None of that means something is wrong. Your brain has been living with quieter sound for years, and it needs a few weeks to re-learn what to focus on and what to tune out.
Here's the rhythm most people follow. After you order, book a free call with our Care Team to plan your first weeks and get fit tips ready for day one. Then start with a few hours a day in quiet places, like home with the TV or a one-on-one conversation. Add hours and busier settings each week. By week two or three, the strangeness fades and sounds start feeling like yours again. By week three or four, most people stop thinking about the aids at all.
The one mistake to avoid: judging them in the first week. That early sharpness is your brain adjusting, not the sound you'll live with. It's exactly why we give you 100 days instead of 30; there's no rush, and the payoff is worth the patience.
4. Buying, Trial & Warranty
What if they are not for me? What is the return window?
Try them at home, risk-free. If they're not right, return them within the 100-day trial window for a full refund, and we cover return shipping. This applies to Ceretone hearing aids bought directly from our official website.
One tip before you decide: give your ears 4 to 6 weeks of regular wear. Your brain needs time to relearn sounds it hasn't heard in a while, and voices that seem sharp or tinny in week one usually settle into natural by week three or four.
Can I use FSA or HSA funds, or will insurance cover them?
Yes to FSA and HSA. Hearing aids are an eligible expense, and you'll see the payment option at checkout.
Insurance is different. We don't bill insurance directly, and original Medicare doesn't cover over-the-counter hearing aids. That said, some customers have been reimbursed through their specific plan, so it's worth a call to yours. We'll gladly provide an itemized receipt for any claim you want to make.
How fast is shipping, and how do I track my order?
Orders placed before 1 pm PT ship the same day (in rare cases, the next business day); after that, they ship the next business day.
Everything is in stock in our California warehouse, and delivery takes 2 to 7 days. You'll get a tracking link by email as soon as your order leaves us.
What warranty and support do I get, and how long will they last?
Core One Pro comes with a 12-month warranty covering manufacturing defects. If a device fails under normal use, we repair or replace it; most hardware issues are resolved with a straight replacement, no lengthy back-and-forth.
Support doesn't end when the warranty does. Our hearing support team is available for the life of your device, whether that's a fit question in week one or a troubleshooting call in year three. Email and phone details are on our contact page.
With basic care, the aids are built to last for years. The one thing that affects lifespan most: replace the ear tips monthly so wax doesn't work into the sound outlet.
Can I buy just one hearing aid for one ear?
Core One Pro is sold as a pair. The price you see covers both the left and right aids plus the charging case.
You can absolutely wear just one if only one ear needs help; nothing about the device requires you to use both. We do generally suggest wearing both where it makes sense, because two ears give you a more balanced, natural sound and make it easier to tell where a sound is coming from.
If you ever lose or damage a single aid, you don't have to buy a whole new set. We offer single left or right replacement units on this page for existing customers, since you already have the charging case.
Do you offer financing or a payment plan?
Yes, Shop Pay Installments, powered by Affirm, lets you split the cost into smaller payments instead of paying all at once. You will see the option at checkout.
Can I buy these as a gift for a parent or spouse?
Absolutely, and many customers do. If someone you love keeps turning the TV up or asking people to repeat themselves, Core One Pro makes a genuinely life-changing gift.
One tip for gifting hearing aids well: the gift works best when they're part of it. The first weeks take a little patience while the ears adjust, and gentle encouragement from you does more than the device alone.
The 100-day trial covers gifts too, so if it isn't right for them, it comes back for a full refund. No pressure on them, no risk for you.
5. Hearing Loss & Suitability
What level of hearing loss is Core One Pro for? Will it work for severe loss?
Core One Pro is designed for mild to moderate hearing loss, roughly the 26 to 55 dB range, with up to 28.7 dB of gain. Common signs you're in that range: the TV is louder than everyone else likes, you often ask people to repeat themselves, or you lose the thread in a busy restaurant.
If your loss is severe or profound, an OTC hearing aid won't give you enough power. Signs of that: you struggle to hear even loud speech, or conversation is hard even in quiet rooms. In that case, you'll need prescription hearing aids fitted by a professional. Our partners at ZipHearing can help you find a local provider.
If you have sudden hearing loss, pain, or drainage in your ear, please see a doctor first.
Are these real hearing aids or just sound amplifiers? Are they cleared by the FDA?
They're real hearing aids. An over-the-counter hearing aid is an FDA-regulated medical device with defined output and safety limits, built to compensate for hearing loss. A personal sound amplifier (PSAP) is a consumer gadget that simply makes everything louder; it isn't a medical device and isn't regulated as a hearing aid at all.
Ceretone makes only hearing aids, never amplifiers. We're registered with the FDA, and Core One Pro is listed as an OTC hearing aid that meets the FDA's requirements for the category.
A quick note on wording: the FDA doesn't "approve" hearing aids, and clearance 510(K) is only required for devices with self-fitting software. Core One Pro uses four preset programs instead, so no clearance is needed; it simply has to meet the FDA's OTC hearing aid standards, and it does.
No prescription or clinic appointment needed to buy one. That's exactly what the over-the-counter category was created for.
Do I need a prescription or a hearing test? Can they be programmed to my audiogram?
No prescription, no hearing test, no clinic appointment.
Core One Pro is an over-the-counter device for adults with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss, so you can start at home today. You get four preset programs for different environments plus volume control, which covers most everyday listening at this level of loss.
Core One Pro itself can't be programmed to your audiogram. If you want a device that adapts to your personal hearing profile, check out Beacon, our behind-the-ear model with self-fitting features (FDA 510(k) cleared). It runs an in-app hearing check and tunes itself to your results.
